Mere Mortals
Reimagining the ancient Greek myth of Pandora's Jar for our technological era, this evening-length work creates a groundbreaking fusion of classical ballet and contemporary electronic dance music. Aszure collaborated with acclaimed DJ and composer Floating Points and multidisciplinary visual artists Hamill Industries to deliver an immersive sensory journey that transformed the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House into a kaleidoscopic environment of mesmerizing light, video, and movement.
This philosophical exploration weaves themes of temptation, risk, and curiosity into a hypnotic escape where gods and mortals collide. As artificial intelligence advances and humans grow simultaneously more connected yet isolated, Mere Mortals provocatively questions the true cost of innovation and what we risk in the name of progress. This first-of-its-kind ballet transcends traditional boundaries to create a spiritual journey for the senses.
