Aszure Barton & Artists has a busy summer ahead!
Awáa had a beautiful première at the Canada Dance Festival in Ottawa at the beginning of June. Susan Hickman, dance critic, wrote a wonderful review:
Project XII (Awáa) speaks of awakening, awareness of self, growth, motherhood, love and harmony with others. All this results in a presentation that is sad, happy, funny, mesmerizing, picturesque, aesthetically beautiful to behold and curiously inspiring.
Aszure Barton & Artists will be performing Awáa again at the Banff Centre on Saturday, June 30th at 9pm. Click here for more information.
AB&A dancers will also be performing in the première of Aszure’s latest creation alongside the artists in the Banff Centre’s Professional Dance Program. This new work is the result of the Koerner Award in Choreography awarded to Aszure by the Banff Centre earlier this year. It will be performed as part of the Dance Masters show running Wednesday, July 18th through Saturday, July 21st. More information and tickets are available here.
Finally, Aszure will be traveling down to Houston, TX to create a new work with Houston Ballet. This piece will be performed September 20-30th as part of their Women@Art program. Tickets go on sale Monday, August 6th!
